A wealth of activity
Our aim is to forge links between Scotland and China in education, business, science, technology, tourism and culture. To do this, we offer an equally broad range of activities, including:
- Language classes
- Business classes
- Cultural seminars
- Public lectures
The heart of our academic programme is the undergraduate degree in International Business Management and Chinese Language and the Edinburgh Business School MBA in Chinese. However, we also offer further Chinese degree programmes and a range of language classes for all levels and abilities. Students can also take the Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì (HSK) exam — the only standardised proficiency test for potential Chinese language teachers.
As well as offering quality teaching and internationally-recognised qualifications, the Institute is also a great business resource. Our translation and interpreting services can help businesses engage better. We also make it possible to carry out more high-caliber business research. And our continuing professional development (CPD) courses are ideal for learning the practicalities of doing business with China.
Our Scotland-China Exchanges Bridge will also build partnerships with Chinese universities and help in joint conferences and research collaborations.
A cultural connection
Outside the classroom, the Institute offers a varied cultural programme, with something for everyone. These activities help students enjoy a richer learning experience, as well as adding to our proud multi-cultural reputation. Working closely with bodies across Scotland, we encourage everyone to immerse themselves in a wide range of festivals, art and events, such as Chinese New Year. By fostering this understanding and knowledge, we can help to forge strong and long-lasting partnerships.
