Chinese Lantern Festival Celebration Held
“It’s yummy!” said Hyde Warrington. As a native person of Edinburgh, it’s his first time to try Tangyuan (sweet stuffed rice dumpling), a traditional special food for Chinese Lantern Festival which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month.
Hyde Warrington and his two French classmates attended the celebration of Chinese Lantern Festival jointly hosted by the Scottish Confucius Institute (SCIBC) and the Chinese Student Union and the Chinese Society at Heriot-Watt University at 6:00pm on the 5th March 2015.
On the Eve, students from around the world enjoyed Tangyuan and guessed riddles, which features the two major activities for Chinese Lantern Festival. The Celebration lasted for 3 hours. Some Chinese students from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and the U.K. also attended the celebration.
The day before the Celebration, John Somers, first secretary of Scottish Affairs of British Embassy Beijing, and Hannah Graham, the senior China policy adviser of the Scottish Government, visited SCIBC and gave their holiday greetings to the staff of SCIBC.
